Something a little different today, just because it’s Friday…<\/em><\/p>\n

Like many of us, Steve will be taking on the uTalk challenge<\/a> in January 2015, and he’s chosen to explain the reasons for his language choice in verse. As you do \ud83d\ude09<\/em><\/p>\n

Last Monday I went into the EuroTalk office, had hardly taken off my hat
\nWhen Liz announced to all and sundry: ‘Now here\u2019s a challenge and it\u2019s no trap:
\nPick any language from the uTalk App.
\nI don\u2019t mind which, as long as you try;
\nYou\u2019ll have the month of \u00a0January, no more,
\nTo use the App and get damn good scores!’
\nOK, I thought, well \u2026 it\u2019s got to be Thai.
\nHere goes, methinks: it\u2019s a very fine tongue, and could just be a bit of fun!
\nI go there a lot, it’s lovely and hot, I like Bangkok, the people, the vibe,
\nBut knowing no Thai is something I can\u2019t hide.
\nIt\u2019s a bit of a challenge, it\u2019s a question of pride
\nI\u2019ll read a menu
\nIn any venue
\nI\u2019ll not freak out when someone phones
\nIf I can only master those tones
\nThat speakers of Thai use as a matter of course.
\nI\u2019ll use the App to get damn good scores.<\/p>\n

I won\u2019t give up, I will not park it
\nI\u2019ll have that chat with the guy at the market
\nTo buy my stuff and interact.
\nI\u2019ll learn some Thai from the uTalk App!<\/p>\n
