<\/p>\nCompetitors in our uTalk Challenge Final took language learning to a whole new level with not one but two tie breaks.\u00a0The competition, held at London\u2019s Olympia, was so tightly contested that it had to go into extra time as two players drew for first place and two more for third place \u2013 only one point behind the leaders.\u00a0And the standard of play was so strong across the board that we had to put 16 children forward for the final play-off instead of the usual 12.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really amazed by you all!\u201d says uTalk Director Ricahrd Howeson.\u00a0 \u201cA huge well done to everyone who took part and, regardless of who won, we hope you all came away with something special – the confidence to speak a few words in someone else\u2019s language.\u201d<\/p>\n
The uTalk Challenge raised more than \u00a312,200 for uTalk\u2019s chosen charity onebillion which works to educate children in developing countries.\u00a0Thank you so much for this wonderful gift and to everyone who took part in the competition.<\/p>\n

The uTalk Challenge prize winners<\/strong><\/p>\n (and what they won):<\/p>\n 1st<\/sup> Angel Mendel-Idowu of Wokingham, Berks won a holiday of a lifetime worth up to \u00a35,000.<\/p>\n 2nd<\/sup> Riya Sangampalayam of Redhill won The Mrs T. Collender Memorial Prize of a runners up trophy and \u00a3100 worth of Amazon vouchers.<\/p>\n 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0Yuvan Raja of Byfleet, Surrey won \u00a350 worth of Amazon vouchers.<\/p>\n 4th<\/sup>\u00a0Alyssia Gill of Loughborough\u00a0also won \u00a350 worth of Amazon vouchers. (We don\u2019t usually give a 4th<\/sup> prize but this competition was so close, we bent the rules!)<\/p>\n The youngest entrant in the top ten finalists, Kamron Gill of Loughbough, won \u00a350 which was donated and presented by past winner Tudor Mendel-Idowu.<\/p>\n Also, Suki Gill (Alyssia\u2019s and Kamron\u2019s mum) won the the parents competition and went home with a bottle of Champagne.<\/p>\n The teacher whose school entered most pupils into the competition won a trophy and chocolates from the Mrs T.
