Organisers of the competition \u2013 now called <\/span>The uTalk Challenge<\/b> \u2013 want to spread the word about languages to even more children.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Language learning company uTalk is looking to stage the competition in other countries including India, where it\u2019s already being trialled, as well as Greece and Nigeria. And it wants to make the competition better for UK children and is currently consulting parents and teachers on how best to tweak its format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cChildren have a natural talent for learning languages but sometimes never unlock it,\u201d says competition founder Richard Howeson.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what this competition is all about, showing them how easy languages can be and how, wherever they go in the world, they can raise a smile and start a friendship just by saying a few words in someone\u2019s else\u2019s language.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The competition, which is now in its 15<\/span>th<\/span> year, is currently open to primary school aged children in the UK and all money raised goes to charity.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entrants are also given access to language learning software in up to three languages and are given the chance to win a top prize, worth up to \u00a35,000.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The on-going survey only takes 2 minutes to complete and is exploring key aspects of the Challenge, including sharing prize money, timings of the competition, amount of language content made available to participants and entry fee. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are looking to announce the results and our plans at the end of December\/beginning of January. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
