About Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha)

Modern Standard Arabic or MSA is the standard version of Arabic used all across the Arabic-speaking world in both formal writing and speech. It is based on Classical Arabic, the language of the Quran, but has been simplified for modern use. Modern Standard Arabic is different to and not mutually understandable with the many varieties of colloquial Arabic - such as Egyptian, Lebanese and Moroccan - which are mostly spoken. Because Modern Standard Arabic stretches over such a wide area, there are regional differences in pronunciation. uTalk features Egyptian native speakers.
