As an enthusiastic user of over a dozen languages in the company's earlier Talk Now! app and related products for PCs and Macs it's interesting to see the evolution to the current uTalk app. There are four things that really draw me to uTalk and their earlier eurotalk products. First, relatively speaking they are not nearly as expensive as some of their competitors. Second, the range of languages is much greater than their main competitors by a wide margin. They have had every language that I've wanted to explore. Third, the exercises tend to be relatively short, often taking 5 minutes or less. I can pop in and do a little bit of practice in a short time. Some other products I know when I use them I'm going to need a much longer chunk of time before I get to a convenient stopping point and end up deciding against doing it as a result. And fourth, they have terrific support, and I don't want to suggest I've had any major problems with the eurotalk or uTalk products but I have on occasion had the odd question or two and I've never been disappointed by the friendliness and quality of response I've gotten from their support team.Terry MillsAndroid  

Excellent and thorough! The 3.7 rating on here seems quite unfair; most complaints appear to be from people expecting more for free (and you actually can get a decent amount for free if you put the effort in). It's not really intended for 'dipping in and out of' like Duolingo or Drops, but as it's a bit more intense, I felt like I've learnt faster with uTalk than I did with Duolingo. This app is amazing. I tried so many apps to try and learn the language I want to learn and they did not even have them. I got very frustrated on till I found this app. I looked around the app and saw thousands of languages. A moment later I finally found my language. This app has over 60 categories to choose from with helpful vocabulary and phrases. I already speak, read, and write Thai, but this app is helping to fill in vocabulary gaps. Also, I love the recall section where you test your pronunciation against a native speaker (both male and female recordings). The microphone doesn’t lie! If you are buying this for mass sentences, syntax, or fluency in a language, you will be disappointed. Check out glossika instead. However, if you are looking for helpful vocabulary and you want to work on your accent, this is a fun app to accomplish those goals. Finally got over my vocab learning phobia! For my GCSEs I have chosen to do 3 languages: French, German and Mandarin. As you can imagine that is a lot of vocabulary to learn, I have always been terrible at learning written language but this app makes it fun by turning it into a game! It has over 100 other languages to learn from and since then I have also started to learn a bunch of other languages including Swedish, Dutch, Spanish, Italian and Norwegian. I've also taken a look at Albanian and Swahili which have been interesting to learn.HenryAndroid

This uTalk is a good deal because it is useful to both new learners and intermediate learners. The uTalk app is quite polished and it seems that the company is responsive. There are many words for new learners (I’m sure at least 1,500 words), plus many complex sentences that may contain up to 10-15 words (more sentences here than most other apps). There are English translations for the words and sentences, which are very helpful. The 65 lesson topics typically consist of 20-50 individual words or sentences. There are a variety of six types of quizzes with each topic—including very easy and very difficult quizzes. You need to be very familiar with the words to do well on the difficult quizzes. But you can skip the hardest quizzes and return to them later. Every app has strengths and weaknesses. All the language learning apps I have purchased so far are useful, but I like the format of uTalk better than the similar apps of Mondly and Learn&Play. The pronunciation methodology is better in uTalk than those other apps. Also, uTalk includes pronunciations from both North and South Vietnam for all words and sentences. Rosetta Stone has a different teaching structure than uTalk. RS is very good, but it is better to have some knowledge of individual words before starting with Rosetta Stone, or it may be too difficult for new learners. Even after using RS, this is a good app to have.uTalk UseriPhone
