Fun facts about Italian

The Italian for good luck, ‘In bocca al lupo’, literally means ‘into the wolf’s mouth’. It's important to respond to this with ‘Crepi il lupo’ (may the wolf die).

A popular Italian tongue twister goes 'trentatré Trentini entrarono a Trento, tutti e trentatré trotterellando', which means ‘thirty-three Trentonians came into Trento, all thirty-three trotting'.

'Ciao' can mean both 'hi' and 'bye'- and for 'bye' you can also double it to 'Ciao Ciao'!

The single letter 'e' is a word in Italian - it means 'and'.§
