Bulgarian is a South Slavic language and because it is very closely related to Macedonian speakers of these languages can usually understand each other. Other related languages include Serbian, Slovenian and Croatian. It has quite a different grammar to most Slavic languages- for example, there are almost no cases, compared to Russian’s six. Unusually, it also has a definite article, 'the', which gets attached to the end of the noun, so банка is 'bank' but банката is 'the bank'.Learn Bulgarian with uTalk
